Powerful. Poignant. Profound I don't know how anyone could ever possibly give this historically imperative place any less than 5*. I have enormous and unyielding admiration and respect for the people and organisations (including individuals who were once prisoners here!) for preserving this place of horrendous human suffering for future generations to see and understand for themselves with the hopes that they prevent such abhorrent inhumanity from ever occurring again. I spent the entire day choking back tears in horror and frustration for the poor, innocent people who perished here. For what? Because they were disabled or homosexual, or because they practised Judaism? It all seems so utterly, inconceivably pointless and unnecessary. The mind simply cannot process such blind and unwarranted hatred. The sight of the human hair piled up behind the glass screens that was turning grey because it still had traces of the Zyklon B gas, and the tiny childrens shoes and clothes violently stripped from their bodies before they were herded into the gas chambers like worthless pieces of garbage, were an indelible reminder of the despicable crimes that took place here and must NEVER be repeated.

Mind blowing. It’s so hard to imagine what those people went through when you get to Birkenau and it’s a beautiful summer day. It isn’t swampy anymore and it feels just wrong that the sun shines in such a place. Tip: wear your moooost comfortable sneakers, preferably with a really thick sole. You’ll walk around for a mile, perhaps a mile and a half. But the road is the same as it was 80 years ago and it will completely ruin your feet. I think that’s what horrified me the most: I had comfy shoes, I was well rested and had a good breakfast in the morning yet I found the road incredibly hard to walk on. I can’t even fathom what it must have been like for the people who were starved and exhausted to head back to their horrible barracks after 10-12 hours of work.

“Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana Highly recommend to take a guided tour as there's lots of things to know. You'll get chills all the time, and you'll hate the Nazis even more, but unfortunately it's part of history now and it should not be repeated

What can I say. A terrible story. This place brings many emotions. Our English speaking guide was exceptionally good in telling this horror story. Most informative and as sad as the background to the place is, an experience not to be missed. A very moving trip to both the sites.

Firstly this was an amazing informative visit highly recommended! However, its really heavy on the heart and very emotional to be in the place where such horrible and unthinkable acts were committed! You can only begin by the slightest of margins to imagine the scale and gravity of what happened. Rest in peace to those that lost their lives here, and to all those that were imprisoned here may we never forget your suffering

Was a very Big Funnee. Threw my little brother in the burn pit. Then got kicked out after trying to activate the gas chamber while people were doing a tour. Was a great trip.
